Just Saiyan...

It's gaming news time! First up, all of you Steam users can now preorder Fallout 3 using Steam for $49.99. However, if you are buying Fallout 3 for a console, you'll have to go to the store and buy it. Next up, the general obsession over Rock Band/Guitar Hero has reached a fever pitch with the Rock Band Live Tour. Yeah. It will feature real bands, as well as gamers who like Rock Band a bit too much. Finally, the servers for Hellgate: London will be shutting down soon. So, you few gamers that enjoyed that game, well, sucks to be you.

I watched The Incredible Hulk yesterday. It was amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. It has intense battle scenes, as well as great homages to the comic and the old TV show. Go watch it tonight.

I'm pretty excited for Street Fighter IV. Street Fighter II was and still is my favourite fighting game of all time. I have to say, 3D fighters aren't that great. I don't know why. Street Fighter is simply amazing. I can't get enough of the game. The sad thing is that playing the game with a normal controller is insane. The only way to play is with the classic arcade configuration. Sometimes simple is better.

Today I want to tackle RPGs. Now, when most gamers hear RPG, they think of Final Fantasy, or a number of other JRPGs. I have to say one thing: JRPGs are not true RPGs. A real role playing game is Dungeons and Dragons. Here is the first link. When I searched up RPG on YouTube, this is the first link (it was on the 4th page!) to do with a true RPG: the classic tabletop variety. That's three pages of imitation RPGs and JRPGs. A JRPG, if you don't know, is a Japanese Role Playing Game. Final Fantasy and Super Mario RPG (a game I deeply hate) are two very important ones. The original Final Fantasy was heavily based on DND, but since then, the series has strayed from the path of a true RPG. Even Diablo isn't really an RPG, but it is closer than most. Here is a list of great, true RPGs, including the original Fallout. Here is gameplay from Final Fantasy 7, the greatest JRPG of all time. This link has gameplay of Fallout 1, a true RPG. See the difference?

The verdict is that JRPGs and untrue RPGs have much, much less customization and such, whereas in true RPGs, the player can sculpt their character to fit whatever they feel like. I mean, in DND, there is a feat that lets you catch arrows! That is all.
